Netflix is, without a doubt, the undisputed king of streaming services. A trend-setter when it comes to producing its own original content with a library full of of some of the greatest TV shows of all time, it's hardly surprising that its subscribers tend to miss new releases from time-to-time. In all honesty, it happens to the best of us, as you find yourself flicking from show to film to show again, unsure of what to choose. T

hat being said, it's a tragedy that so many people slept on Daybreak that it's already been cancelled after a single season. That it won't return is one of the low points of Netflix's year. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go back and watch it now.

A relatively new arrival to the service, Daybreak only debuted on 24th October - just in time for Halloween which, considering its premise, was a stroke of genius. Based on the Brian Ralph comic book of the same name, the series is set in Glendale after a nuclear missile ravaged the area and turned all of the adults into zombies (or as the show would prefer you to call them 'ghoulies').

Naturally, it follows the surviving teenagers who, in the space of time since the missile landed, have turned the town into their own Mad Max-like gangs. But for one young boy, he's determined to risk it all in order to track down the love of his life. With that in mind, let's take a look at why you should absolutely stop what you're doing and binge it now.

6. It's Nothing Like It Seems

If you heard anything about Daybreak, then you'll probably know that the series primarily follows teenager Josh Wheeler in his bid to track down his long-lost love Sam Dean. By now you're probably thinking that this sounds like every single YA novel you've ever read as nothing - not even a zombie apocalypse - can keep these star-crossed lovers apart. Well, if you are thinking that, then you're wrong. Dead wrong.

Daybreak likes to make you think one thing and then completely subvert your expectations by producing something different - that's one of it's greatest strengths. So even though it sounds like a stereotypical YA romance novel, it isn't. It isn't even presented like one as, right from the offset, it's clear that this isn't your typical, well, everything.

It's a loud and vibrant comedy that is full-of-life (ironic given its concept) and it's that satirical tone that ultimately sets it apart from everything else in its genre (we'll get to that). It's quirky, mature, violent and thought-provoking all at once and it uses its tropey premise to produce something that's anything but.

Speaking of its premise...
