In these recessionary times, staying in has become the new going out. More and more people are spending their weekends cuddled up to the TV instead of hitting the clubs, and for good reason too. 7. Smallville
Why You Should Watch It: Superman is perhaps the greatest comic book superhero in the world. As well as being loved by DC fans, he's also one of the few globally iconic heroes, recognizable to non comic fans. Smallville tells the origin story of how Clark Kent becomes that hero. The first few seasons can be a little melodramatic, but the rest more than justify having to sit through a few hours of tears and tantrums. Current superhero caper- Arrow, is receiving rave reviews for its take on superhero canon, but Smallville at its best is still unbeaten. John Glover as Lionel Luthor is worth the price of the boxset alone. Why She'll Love It The first few seasons of Smallville might not have much action, but the character development is top notch. Clark and Lois have one of the best relationships in any medium and its perfectly recreated in Smallville. There's betrayal, manipulation, love and mystery. If you are lucky, she might just see why you love superheroes as much as you do.
