7 TV Shows That Improved In 2019 (And 3 That Got Worse)

6. The Flash

The CW

The Flash has spent the past few years attempting to recapture the momentum of its perfect first (and solid second) season - with varying degrees of success. Following the disappointing fourth season, the creative team tried something different for Season 5 but, again, it didn't feel like it really worked - so for the first half of this year (as it completed that fifth season), it was stuck in the same place. The fall season, however, saw a drastic change - one that ultimately benefited the show a great deal.

Inspired by the arrival of the Crisis, Season 6's narrative directly revolved around the heart of the show - Barry Allen - and that allowed it to find its heart again. Moreover, new villain Bloodwork was a monumental improvement over Cicada and he tied into the Crisis storyline very well, as the writers successfully managed to balance the season's narrative with the show's overarching story.

A refreshing return to form, The Flash is continuing to improve while making full use of its talented cast. It still has some work to do, but the improvement is breathtaking.
