8 Hated TV Episodes That Deserve Redemption
8. The Lost Sister - Stranger Things
This episode likely would have been better received if it didn’t interrupt one of the biggest moments of Stranger Things’ second season. The Upside Down’s demodogs are massing into one giant horde and are about to break into the lab where several of our main characters are trapped inside…
And then we get a totally unrelated episode about Eleven and her new friends. But while the episode’s placement is unfortunate, it still offers an important insight into Eleven’s psyche.
In previous episodes of the show, we only really get to see Eleven in relation to how other characters see her, mostly because she doesn’t speak that much in the first two seasons. The Lost Sister allows her to truly become her own person and establishes her firm morals regarding life and death.
The contrast with new character Kali, who is much more blasé about killing former employees of Hawkins Lab, makes Eleven a stronger character. Her decision to leave the group, despite Kali being a fellow survivor of Hawkins Lab, and returning to save her friends is also a strong character moment and ultimately makes the episode a vital one.
There’s no defending some of those costumes though.
