It was hard to pick just one moment from this show. The most obvious is the characters live in Bikini Bottom, but that's so blatant and odd that I couldn't really run with it here. However, there's one that will always stand out. One episode begins with Spongebob watching TV. It's a coral, but there's some music added and it's dancing to it. Spongebob gets this look on his face that implies this isn't exactly G rated. Gary then walks in, and Spongebob panics and says he was just watching sports. If you didn't quite catch that implication, then let me spell it out for you yes, this little sponge was watching sea-porn. I think at this point the show had been around for a couple years, and the writers just threw in whatever dirty jokes they could think of. But holy hell, sea-porn? I don't know what's worse: the fact they actually aired that, or that no one seemed to notice. I guess that makes it subtle smut, right? Whatever the case may be, I can't watch the show without remembering that Spongebob watches porn on the down low.
