It's said The Simpsons made something of a stir last year at San Diego's Comic Con when creator Matt Groening, executive producer Al Jean and others were joined at the end of a 45-minute talk by a holographic Homer Simpson. It was, reportedly, a "highly publicised event", which is probably how the owner of Hologram USA, Alki David, heard his patented technology was being (allegedly) used to make one of Groening's creations seem like he was in the room. Hologram USA's 3D imagery is what brought Tupac Shakur back to life (not literally) at the 2012 Coachella Music Festival, but apparently no one involved with The Simpsons Comic Con discussion had obtained permission to use the same technique. With David already in the middle of an ongoing litigation battle over a Michael Jackson hologram being used at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, a Fox spokesperson hit back with this hilariously scathing statement: "This filing is totally without merit and we have no comment except to say that once again, Mr David has demonstrated his insatiable need to remain relevant."
