This one seems almost completely unnecessary because the baby born on the elevator occurs in a dream while Earl is in a coma. It's bad enough when the event occurs in the present, but why put it in a dream sequence, even if it was meant as a gag, it's easier to make fun shows that use the story by actually making it through the journey and off the elevator safely.
