8 Star Wars Projects We Can't Wait To See In 2023
8. Star Wars: Hunters
Fans have been led on a wild goose chase with Star Wars: Hunters. Revealed in February 2021, Hunters is free-to-play online combat arena game produced by Zynga, and was set to be released on Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android the following year.
Players were to have the ability to choose from a list of completely brand new characters to take onto the battlefield, like droid Jedi-wannabe J-3DI or Slingshot, an Ugnaught operating a Separatist Droideka. A gameplay trailer was released in December 2021, showcasing the characters and the maps on an all-new planet, Vespaara, with Zynga preparing to release the game.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen. The game had a soft launch in India, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines on Android devices, though there hasn't been any global release as of yet. In July, Zynga announced the indefinite delay of the game, saying, "To ensure we meet the high expectations we are setting for fans globally and ourselves as developers, we have made the decision to delay the worldwide launch of Star Wars: Hunters. We invite all players to join us on Vespaara when Star Wars: Hunters launches in 2023."
Other than the occasional tweets for game improvements, there has been complete radio silence from Zynga, so fans have been left in the dark as to if the game will definitely release this year.
