8 TV Show Reboots You Didn't Know Were In The Works

Because RDJ has to do SOMETHING when he hangs up the suit...

While the term "reboot" is more commonly associated with the movie industry, TV has seen more than its fair share of revivals, remakes, and revamps come and go over the years.

Everything from Twin Peaks, Full House, and Roseanne to DuckTales, Dynasty, and Lost In Space has been revisited or rebooted, and in a world where recognisable IP (no matter how obscure) tends to reign supreme, it's not surprising to learn that some of the biggest networks are currently in the midst of developing their own reboots of pre-existing TV shows.

The good thing about this is that it can introduce younger viewers to a universe or a set of characters they'd never have considered before, driving up the popularity of the original shows when people go back to check them out.

But, the bad thing about this is that the new versions could all suck.

In truth, not all of these eight reboots will get a series order (and some might not even make it to pilot), but they each show promise, and you should definitely keep them on your radar in case they turn out great.

8. Roswell, New Mexico

The Original: Based on the young adult book series, Roswell (also known as Roswell High in the UK) originally debuted in 1999, and followed high school student Liz Parker, a curious teen who investigates a mysterious alien after he saves her life from a gunshot wound.

The show was very "teen soap-opera-y" (not too far removed from most YA fiction we see today), and was eventually cancelled after three disappointing (ratings-wise) seasons.

The Reboot: Now titled Roswell, New Mexico, the reboot is set to air sometime during the 2018-2019 TV season on The CW.

The extra-terrestrial element will remain intact (as will the small-town soap opera angle), but this time, the show is attempting to be more of a societal commentary, with Liz's parents being undocumented immigrants and the emergence of an alien "outsider" who threatens to disturb the peace no doubt playing into this as well.
