Television is, by and large, a long form medium. Yes, some shows intend to have limited runs, and some are so bad they dont get a chance to spread their wings, but generally speaking a show tells many stories over many episodes over a few seasons. As such, sometimes a premise will wear itself out. Other times, a change to the cast becomes necessary, and thus a change to a show becomes necessary. Television shows have to be willing to adapt to survive from time to time. Or, on occasion, they simply decide to change things up for the fun of it, or to breathe new life into the show or whatever. There have been a handful of shows that have changed their premise from what it was originally. Sometimes these changes work. Other times, they only give a show a brief second wind before the show is cancelled for good. Here are eight shows that decided to really change things up. They didnt just add a new character like The Brady Bunch with Cousin Oliver or The Mindy Project with about 800 different people. They completely changed course, for better or worse.
