The Iron Throne, the least comfortable seat imaginable, is made from the melted-down swords offered to past king Aegon The Conquerors enemies when they offered him fealty. Its intended to be a symbol of the absolute right of the man who sits on the throne to rule Westeros. The builders of this large and imposing prop in Game Of Thrones decided to have fool around a little bit when putting the Iron Throne together, though. Blanks of swords previously used in film productions were pulled together to assemble the Throne among them, the one used by Orlando Bloom in Ridley Scotts Crusader epic, Kingdom Of Heaven. Another very noticeable sword that forms part of the Iron Throne is the so-called Robin Of Locksley sword, wielded by Robin Hood himself. Theres no particular movie associated with this legendary weapon, however it may be a coincidence that this well-known and often-copied design found its way into the Throne. The final weapon is no coincidence, however. Eagle eyes have spotted Gandalfs sword Glamdring forming a part of the throne, and one that was certain to get into shot in Game Of Thrones definitely a little nod to The Lord Of The Rings movie trilogy by the makes of Game Of Thrones.
