Part of Adventure Time's allure is its crazy, whimsical nature. However another part of its attraction, is no matter how deep and insane Pendleton Ward's creation delves, there is always a method to the madness. No matter which unthinkable direction the show sprints, they always remember those footsteps and how they got there. It's proof of great writing, that in such an unpredictable world like Ooo, everything and everyone has their place. Further examination of this controlled mayhem indeed reveals a concrete timeline, characters don't just disappear and consistency is commonplace. Everyone can find something to enjoy in Adventure Time, as the show does a great job of juggling humorous immaturity and adult undertones. As an example, the prospect of a Mushroom War sounds playful and exciting to children, but in actuality it describes a terrible apocalypse that led to the near extinction of the human race. This near end was achieved by means of nuclear war, which emitted mushroom clouds, and resulted in the post-apocalyptic land of Ooo. Viewers aren't told this information directly, but rather given pieces of the puzzle to decipher the history. Perhaps the series wasn't meant to be pondered over this much, but I cannot help but be intrigued by some omitted details in Adventure Time. With such a rich, intriguing history, and consistency in its story, I'm excited to see if some of my questions get cleared up in the future. Warning, there will be possible spoilers within the discussions.
