Netflix has been taking noticeable steps to combat the infamous "Netflix bloat" problem that has characterised so many of their Original properties, and Altered Carbon is the latest to return to screens with a sensibly curtailed new season.

Though season one was hardly an excruciating sit at "only" 10 episodes, the dubious quality of the storytelling ensured many viewers nevertheless felt exhausted by the end.

By ditching two episodes and opting for a shortened eight-episode order, season two immediately feels more svelte and light on its feet, and even with its aforementioned scripting issues, it doesn't test the patience nearly as much as what came before.

For those keen to binge, you can reach the end of this season in a single day without feeling completely and utterly drained, as is thankfully becoming far more common with Netflix Originals.
