Amazon's Lord Of The Rings: 10 Things Fans Demand
2. Sauron's Ascension
Considering he's the titular character of the whole franchise, Sauron has the least amount of screen time across the board. All we really get to see of him is vague, humanoid figures seeking something more than corporeal form, and his big, burny eye at the top of Barad-dûr.
From his conception as an almost godlike being, to his corruption by Melkor (later Morgoth), and eventually to his near complete domination of Middle Earth - Sauron is a far more complex character than his on-screen depictions have allowed.
And lest we forget - we can't have the Kingdom of Numenor without also documenting its downfall. Sauron corrupted the state from within, turning the once proud and wise Dunedain against the Valar in the search for some long-denied immortality. Obviously, the Valar smushed Numenor like a bug. The resultant rebellion of those unsullied by Sauron's nefarious ways eventually led to the War of the Last Alliance - a.k.a. that bit right at the start of the Fellowship of the Ring.
Let's face it, if this is truly a prequel series to the events of The Lord of the Rights, how the blazes could they avoid this storyline? It's like, the whole point of doing it in the first place.
