Tom Cruise - yep, that one - will make a cameo appearance (well, sort of) and be blown up in the pilot episode.

Cruise didn't actually film the scene, rather old footage was used, but he appears in a scene where religious leaders across the world are being possessed, and then explode from the inside out. The scene is described as a news report showing Cruise speaking in front of a Church of Scientology audience, and then subsequently blowing up. Rogen told the Daily Beast about the idea:

"We just have this idea that this entity, whatever it is, is trying to find a suitable host by going to various religious figures, and I think it was Evan’s idea to have [Cruise]."

Goldberg himself added: "I think we were all waiting for someone else to say, ‘No,’ and now it’s too late."
