Sometimes the originals are always the best, and Jessica Lange's premiere performance as the scorned murderess set the tone for (most) of her characters in her four season stint. Sure, Sister Jude was sadistic, but she was a woman of God - Constance's only god was liquor.

After murdering her husband in cold blood, Constance then shot Moira the maid, cursing an aged Frances Conroy to be trapped in the infamous Murder House forever. There were elements of Constance that were good, such as trying to help her daughter Adelaide and befriending Vivien Harmon, but there was always an element of cunning. In the end Constance proved that she would do whatever she could to get what she wanted, and that included letting the Harmon family die in the house. We will never know what happened to Constance, but it is presumed she covered for her son's gruesome murder of the family nanny.
