Michael Langdon disposed of all of the witches in last week's episode of American Horror Story, as he made final preparations before initiating the apocalypse.

The story of comes to an explosive conclusion in the final episode - entitled Apocalypse Then - which makes up for last week's mediocre instalment ten times over. The heart-racing finale doesn't hold back, throwing everything but the kitchen sink into it. Scratch that, it's pretty likely in there too. Every story beat and narrative decision from the entire season pays off in a really great way, in what proves to be a very strong outing for the FX series.

There are plenty of time-jumps throughout, as Apocalypse Then - which is penned by showrunners Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk - returns the narrative to the present day, intensifying matters further as Cordelia and her remaining coven witches attempt to end Michael Langdon once and for all.

Save for a few caveats, there is plenty to love about Apocalypse Then, which proves to be one of the strongest episodes of American Horror Story not only of this season, but of all time. Let's start with the positives...
