If you're thinking I've cheated, then you will definitely not like the next featured artist on the 'countdown.' This is not the version of the same popular song by Swedish Pop quartet Abba €“ instead, it's a much 'superior' version (not my words, the words of Alan Partridge) sung by Glen Ponder and Starlight €“ or something to that effect. Yes, KMNYWAP (abbreviated to save time) was a comedy take on the classic chat show formula of Parkinson and featured that phrase "A-Ha!" uttered in time to the music as Partridge would emerge each week. To be fair, the comedy from Alan Partridge only got better, once he was moved from the rather constricting chat show set and allowed to do more on location work around a bleak and dismal Travel Tavern. The theme was actually recorded by the Steve Brown Band, who were most likely fictional, certainly having nothing to do with either the actual Steve Brown band from Newcastle in the 1970s and the later work of Steve Brown who moved to LA and formed Trixter €“ a Glam band not unlike Poison. I think Trixter on Alan Partridge would have been quite humorous in itself actually.
