Created for those who felt good about blowing things up for absolutely no good reason, the A Team was a show about ex-US combat forces veterans who worked as soldiers of fortune. If you had a job, and you could find them, maybe you could hire the A Team. As well as being handy with dynamite the team were also unusually skilled with makeup and costume effects, able to hide themselves away from those they sought to attack until the precise moment. I guess that all those years hiding in the LA Underground really helped them hone out their makeup skills. With its comic book style violence (over the top explosions where absolutely nobody is hurt to any serious extent) there was always a playful nature to this show, but it's the theme for which the show is most fondly remembered. Composed by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter (the latter of which composed the theme for Bewitched and the former of which the theme for Quantum Leap) this was a winning combination from the start. Of course, the show was accused of sexism from the start, arguing that female actors were rarely included on the programme and were normally only there for glamour shots or sexy smiles. Actor John Ashley, who produced the show, is also responsible for the opening narration at the beginning of the title sequence.
