Another 20 Nostaglic TV Theme Tunes We Just Can’t Let Go

By Wayne Madden /

15. Noel Edmond's House Party (1991)

I said there was one notable exception, in my own mind, to Saturday night TV theme music from the 90's and that was most certainly the noise emanating from the abode of one Noel Edmonds and his "Crinkly Bottom" residents. Indeed Noel's own house party was just the kind of light entertainment the BBC needed to help you relax after a typical Saturday. I'm still curious as to how they managed a lot of those 'Gotcha' awards myself. If you're wondering just what this show was all about, think Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, but just make it better (for the record, lads, I think you're great - you're just not Noel Edmonds and you're certainly not BBC). Edmonds began presenting the show a few years after the conclusion of The Late, Late Breakfast Show and the world had moved on from most of the scandal associated with that particular broadcast. The original theme music (it was changed in 1996 to some horrible techno remix) was composed by Ernie Dunstall and remains my personal favourite due to that brilliant guitar solo as we entered the doors of the mansion to rapturous applause. If the BBC ever want to bring this programme back I'd be glad to throw my hat into the ring.
