Before they were announced to be a part of the DC Extended Universe, or whatever it is they're calling it, the Suicide Squad popped up for a great episode in the stellar season 2 of Arrow. We'd already been introduced to Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot, in season 1, but this introduced us to an expanded cast of characters, led of course by Amanda Waller, and alongside Lawton featuring Bronze Tiger and Shrapnel. They may not have been the biggest names, but they worked really well on the TV show, while their introduction also gave Diggle a great role outside of being Oliver's sidekick. Their return a year later wasn't quite as successful, but that first introduction was really exciting to watch, an indication of where the show was willing to go and its comic connections. As Deadshot put it: "Give me a break, this ain't no task force. Let's call it like it is. Welcome to the Suicide Squad."
