Laurel Lance has now assumed the identity of Black Canary, and the show has followed her continued development in that role, as she trains and improves her fighting skills. The most notable addition to her armoury has been the Canarys Cry that Cisco developed for her in a crossover episode towards the end of season 3. While in the show this is a tech device, in the comics it is actually a superpowered ultrasonic scream. Although the show has found this more reality-based workaround, there has been speculation that Laurel could have latent superpowers - or metahuman abilities - that may eventually lead to her having the proper Canarys Cry in the show.
