11. One Day From Retirement...

In terms of foreshadowing, the cliched “one day from retirement” angle is as much of a death sentence as you can get.

Whilst we were all waiting to see who Arrow was going to kill off (well, apart from those of us who had the news spoiled earlier in the week) this season, the fact that Laurel Lance was seemingly having one last night as Black Canary before calling it a day and becoming the DA of Star City, well that was the biggest warning sign that the show could’ve given.

This whole approach to Laurel’s actions in this latest episode gave her a story arc that many a grizzled, doomed cop (see: Danny Glover) would’ve been proud of. And much like all of those cops who are famously just one day away from retirement, this Canary would end up as dead as a dodo.
