5. The Rock Continues To Carry The Show

Surprise, surprise, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson continues to carry Ballers through even its more generic pitfalls thanks to his enormous charm and charisma.

For one, it's just great to see him hanging out in the R-rated arena given the generally PG-13 nature of most of his movies, and the show also allows him to really build a long-form character like he hasn't been able to since his days in the WWE.

Johnson not only gets to be enormously likeable but also shows off some vulnerability which helps humanise Spencer rather than make him a purely frothy aspirational figure. With his strong work here, Johnson continues to prove himself more than merely a wrestler pretending to be an actor.
