Better Call Saul: 10 Things You Need To Know

10. It's Slightly More Comedic Than Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad probably didn't get as much credit as it should've for being gut-bustingly funny at times €“ remember that crack about the dude's eyebrows in the pilot, or the infamous pizza toss onto the White family home's roof? €“ but that's probably due to the overly dour and dramatic tone it adopted towards the end of its run. A constant source for humour throughout the series, however, was Saul Goodman. Walter White's inscrutable lawyer was always on hand for a bit of much-needed levity, suggesting that the nascent drug kingpin launder his money for a laser tag business and the like. Much of that will be down to Bob Odenkirk's background as a comedic actor, having starred and written much of iconic nineties sketch series Mr Show alongside David Cross. Whilst Better Call Saul isn't quite the half-hour comedy it was originally conceived as, Odenkirk reckons it's 15% comedy, 85% drama. So more yuks than Breaking Bad for sure!
