A few US-based critics have had the opportunity to see the first two episodes of Season 2, ahead of its premiere on Feb 15, and the early reviews provide a promising indication of where the series is heading this year. Variety notes that it has the same slow approach to storytelling, maybe too much at times, but that "even a diluted version of what made Breaking Bad so addictive, it turns out, is way better than nothing at all." Indiewire, meanwhile, praise the attention to detail of the show, which is extremely meticulous in its nature, calling it "one of the best-photographed shows on TV" and paying particular attention to the superb performance of Bob Odenkirk in the lead role, saying: "It demands your attention on a level we just might not be used to these days. But, fortunately, Odenkirk's performance is just good enough to pull it off." Perhaps the most effusive praise comes from Uproxx, with their reviewer stating "the cinematography and writing are still both top-notch", adding: "I think I might enjoy watching Better Call Saul more than Breaking Bad. Thats not me saying its 'better'...But, for a drama, any drama, it is almost a joy to watch."
