BoJack Horseman: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

6. Season One

Though the show's first season is far from being in any way bad, it does takes a few episodes to really get into the swing of things. BoJack's mental state isn't properly tackled until the final few episodes, with everything leading up to the finale just painting him as a bit of a jerk, rather than the complex figure he would become later on.

On top of that, there is a lot of filler. "BoJack Hates the Troops" and "Zoes and Zeldas" don't really do anything other than portray the show as yet another adult TV series with a collection of irreverent characters.

By the seventh episode, though, things really pick up, with the true tone of the show beginning to poke its head from behind the crass humour and so-so character development. The last act of the season is pure BoJack brilliance, digging into the psyche of the main characters with humour, wit and maturity. It just took a while to get going, which lets it down in the rankings.

Best Episodes: The Telescope, Downer Ending, Say Anything
