6 Things New To Netflix This Week (Nov 16)

For when the Recommendations tab just won't do...

By Damien St John /

What do you want? Not sure. When do you want to watch it? Now. Netflix is a maze of box sets, films, cartoons and documentaries and for all its world-class algorithms, top-secret analysis of viewing patterns and careful recommendations, sometimes it just doesn't understand you like we do. Good job then that this article pulls together a handful of top titles for your consideration guaranteed to reduce time spent scrolling through menus while screaming "Seen it, seen it, seen it..." This week: Marvel's new superhero show, a Netflix comedy original, a classic cartoon, and a slice of retro fun.

6. Jessica Jones

The buzz surrounding Marvel's latest TV show is deafening as the comic book kings return to Netflix with their failed superhero-turned-detective character, Jessica Jones. Both the humour and tone of the show is dark, following the trend set by shows like Daredevil and if you're in a committed relationship with Netflix you might recognise Krysten Ritter as Jesse Pinkman's dead girlfriend Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad. It could be the hottest show on Netflix this year and the rumour doing the rounds is that if the series takes off, a movie version would be green-lit. After all, in the Marvel universe Jessica Jones is part of the Mighty Avengers so don't rule it out. Still need convincing? Jessica Jones is set in New York and looks stunning while everyone's favourite Doctor, David Tennant, co-stars as the evil Kilgrave. Commence binge-watching in 3, 2, 1... From November 20th.
