Buffy The Vampire Slayer Cast: Where Are They Now?
15. Joss Whedon
Before the cast get their time to shine, it's worth giving show creator Joss Whedon a shout-out. Whedon wrote the original (and mostly terrible) Buffy movie back in 1992, and made it for the small screen in 1997. During the show's run, he wrote twenty-five episodes and directed twenty-eight - many of which are some of the show's most celebrated.
He continued to act as a producer and writer on the spin-off, Angel, for its final season, and created the show Firefly in 2002. A sci-fi/fantasy action drama, Firefly was unfairly cancelled after only one season, causing backlash so loud Whedon was allowed to direct a film, Serenity (2005), to bring an end to the story.
In 2009, his next big project, Dollhouse, came out to critical acclaim. It starred Buffy star Eliza Dushku and was cancelled (again unfairly) after two seasons.
Outside of the Buffyverse, Whedon's biggest success has been his role in the MCU. In 2012, he wrote and directed The Avengers, and in 2015 he reprised this role to make Avengers: Age of Ultron. Both films were massive successes and helped sculpt the MCU into what it is today, and led to his next show, Agents of SHIELD, being aired between 2013 and 2020 to great reviews.
He also briefly joined the DCEU, co-writing the screenplay for Justice League.
His next show, The Nevers, is a sci-fi drama series set to debut in 2021, and hopefully Whedon will be allowed to finish this one.
