Crisis On Infinite Earths may have been based on the eponymous comic book, but that wasn't the only legendary DC story that it honoured, as the crossover - particularly the second episode - drew inspiration from another unforgettable miniseries.

The appearances of both Conroy's Bruce Wayne and Brandon Routh's Superman were based on the versions of their respective characters from Mark Waid and Alex Ross' Kingdom Come, while much of the former's disgruntled and darkened view of the world also drew from it.
