Melvin Potter is one of Daredevil's most famous and tragic rogues, and his surprise reveal in the show's first season was a treat for fans everywhere, especially considering his significance to the overarching storyline. Potter's mental vulnerability and his devotion to his Betsy became ways for the Kingpin to manipulate him to meet his own ends - namely to construct Fisk's wardrobe of Kevlar-woven suits. After a brief scuffle (with multiple allusions to Melvin's buzz-saws) between Murdock and Potter, the two come to terms and begin the complex relationship that they share like their comic book counterparts. Bringing Melvin into the show in such a way was a really surprising move to make, but the writers managed to cover a lot of what makes the character so intriguing in just a few minutes of screen time. Expect to see the Gladiator suit up in Daredevil's second season as a very angry adversary.
