Accepting that Daredevil doesn't have that iconic logo on his chest is one thing, but no skull symbol for The Punisher? Really?! While Entertainment Weekly were only present for the filming of the first couple of episodes, there was no sign of it then and nothing in the images which have so far been released. As worrying as that it, it does sound like the showrunners are otherwise approaching the character in the right way. "Viewers watching the show will be rooting for this guy with a gun but were also going to force people the way we force Matt to second guess themselves," showrunner Doug Petrie says of the complications which come with focusing on a character who uses guns to kill criminals in today's America. "Taking lethal justice into your own hands is in America in 2015 is tricky shit. We have not shied away from the rich complicated reality of Now. If youve got a gun and youre not the police youre going to incite strong feelings. Were stirring the pot and were aware of the headlines where we live and were trying to get people to think." Going back to that all important logo though, and common sense says that Frank Castle will start using it sooner rather than later. Daredevil appears to be tackling his origin story, and him eventually adopting that as a symbol of fear for New York's criminals makes perfect sense. The show is just going to have to find a way to make that work which doesn't feel forced or too silly, something which could prove to be a challenge.
