DC Universe: What Comics To Read Before It Releases

5. Doom Patrol By Grant Morrison

One of DC’s many groups yet to be portrayed in a live action form, the Doom Patrol have somewhat of a cult following in the comics world, especially when it comes to Morrison’s run, with the writer taking the team to new heights in this book.

The team first appeared in 1963, under the title ‘My Greatest Adventure’ when DC wanted to morph the comic into a superhero series, however, Morrison actually took over the book in the 70s, being the third writer to do so.

The original series featured a very different cast of characters, until Morrison reshaped the team, leading to its now celebrated nature. Yet, even if DC wanted to do a show about the original team, they probably wouldn't want to be able to, seeing as Beast Boy is appearing in their other show, Titans.

Whichever incarnation of the team you prefer, or if you are yet to read any Doom Patrol comics, this book is a wonderful place to start.
