DC Vs Marvel: Who Is Winning The Superhero TV War?

9. Marvel's Attempt At Live Action: The Incredible Hulk

Can Marvel say the same? Well there is one major contender to the mighty DC throne: The Incredible Hulk starring Bill Bixby as David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the Hulk. As popular as Batman and Wonder Woman but darker and more thought-provoking too, it centred on the mental as well as the physical struggle between Banner and the Hulk and ran for a massive five seasons. The Incredible Hulk even returned for three TV movies, the first two of which were notable for the guest-starring superheroes; Thor in The Incredible Hulk Returns and Daredevil in The Trial of the Incredible Hulk. Both were set up as back-door pilots for TV shows featuring these heroes but they never materialised. The only other notable Marvel superhero TV show that ran at the same time was The Amazing Spider-Man which also ran on CBS, though this was never as popular as The Incredible Hulk. The Marvel live-action pickings are slim after this point. Mutant X was a rather pathetic attempt to do something with the X Men mythos while the arguably better Blade: The Series ran for just a single season. In the precursor to the Arrow-verse and Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows, DC definitely wins on the live action front.
