4. The Fight Scenes Are Spectacular
Stargirl's decision to prioritise story over heroics is an admirable choice because it quickly sets it apart from the more formulaic shows in the genre as it doesn't rely on the theatrics of being a superhero to get it through each episode. However, that doesn't prevent it from doing what those shows do best whenever it does feel the need to be a bit more theatrical.
As the story progresses, you find yourself wondering if the fight scenes could possibly live up expectations. But the truth is that they don't just live up to them, they exceed them - and quite quickly, too.
With seamless choreography that plays to each character's strengths and innovative camerawork - full of one-shots that pan across the multiple all-out wars throughout the season - the battles are a breath of fresh air that ultimately drive the show forward in convincing fashion.
In a sense, the creative team found a way to have their cake and eat it. The show makes us wait for the showdowns, but when they do arrive, they are absolutely fantastic.
