Dexter: 5 Ways To Bring It To A Satisfying Conclusion

4. Dexter and Deb Can€™t End Up Together

Everyone whose watched Dexter for any length of time has acknowledged how much of a desperate penis hunter Debra is. Through most of the first 5 series it wasn€™t a question of IF she had a un-successful romantic sub-plot, it€™s WHEN she had an un-successful romantic sub-plot. We laughed, we made jokes, I myself was found saying €˜I wonder how long this show can drag out her daddy issues and unresolved sexual feelings towards her brother before addressing it.€™Then they addressed it. I wasn€™t a fan. Whilst I liked the fact Debra needed a psychiatrist to tell her what we all could have told her in Series 1, it still pushed the show in a direction which worked very well during Series 7; but can€™t progress any further coming into the final series. The brother/sister dynamic of these two has probably been the most consistently strong aspect of the show, Deb was Dexter€™s gateway into actually feeling something for another person and seeing him take on the guiding responsibilities their father really lacked was a solid progression. Deb€™s €˜revealed€™ love for Dexter help made her not turning in her serial killer brother more believable and more of a strain during the last series; but can any fan really say they want to see these two end up together? If Dexter HAS to have a romantic partner to end the show with, which I don€™t think he does, it should be Lumen. Someone who accepted him, was like him but gave him the glowing example of someone who could change for the better.
