Ten has the Converse, the coat, and the pinstripe suit; Eleven has the tweed jacket, the bowtie, and the fez. Nine, however, goes for the less eccentric wardrobe with the leather jacket, a tonned-down image which has ironically become a distinguishing look amid all the Doctor's flamboyant regenerations. In order to bring some new life to the resurrected show, the leather was supposed to bring a punk feel to it. It didn't quite work, but, as with all the Doctors, Nine's look captures his personality not so much quirky as commanding, serious, and dark, although he still has an occasional goofy side that is absolutely endearing.
