Simpson: American Crime Story, Jimmy Kimmel returned to the stage and quipped, "I have to believe that Johnnie Cochran is somewhere smiling up at us tonight."

After giving the crowd a second to process the hilariously dark put-down he'd just fielded out there, he asked them, "Too soon?"
Naturally some took to Twitter expressing their outrage at Kimmel's "offensive" joke (implying that Cochran helped a murderer get away with it and is now residing in Hell), while others praised him for his quick wit.
