To the surprise of just about nobody, Julia Louis-Dreyfus won the Best Actress Comedy Emmy for her performance as Selina Meyer in hit show Veep.

This was a record-breaking victory for the actress, who has now won the most Emmy awards for any actor in a single role, beating out Candice Bergen, who previously held the record with five wins for Murphy Brown. Louis-Dreyfus is also now tied with the legendary Cloris Leachman for the highest total wins by any performer, with a staggering eight Emmys to her name.

Sadly the delayed release date of Veep's final season means that the show will be sitting out next year's Emmy race, ensuring she won't be able to score seven consecutive victories. Cheers for everyone else in that category though, right?
