Atlanta
Most of these are great (Modern Family stands out as the one getting a lazy nomination), and Master Of None's second season is quite deserving, but Atlanta's debut was something really special. It was funny, surreal, and imbued with a dreamlike feel; the performances were all stellar; the writing razor sharp, offering a close study of its characters, city, and black lives in general, along with examining gender and class issues. It took a lot of risks, and they all paid off.
What Will Win
Veep
Veep has won the category two years in a row, and that's the kind of streak that often leads to more wins at the Emmys (see: Modern Family winning five years straight). With a fairly consistent quality and its biggest challengers being the newcomers, Veep looks well set to make it a threepeat.
