5. Michael Keaton Wins His First Emmy

The show got off to a strong start with Michael Keaton winning his first ever Emmy - an Outstanding Lead Actor (Limited, Anthology Series, or Movie) award for his work on Hulu's hit drama series Dopesick.

It's easy to assume that beloved industry veteran Keaton might've had an Emmy or two to his name already, but somehow now - at 71 years of age, no less - this was indeed his first.

Keaton gave a gracious yet irreverent speech, detailing how he came to fall in love with the medium of TV, before thanking his family and amusingly acknowledging no hard feelings against those who've doubted him in his career.

It's the sort of speedy, charming speech that gets awards shows off on the right note, and few winners throughout the night were able to match him.
