Every American Horror Story Season Ranked From Worst To Best
2. Cult
One of the seasons that ditched the traditional horror aspect, Cult instead gave a truly terrifying look into the world of politics, tactics, and manipulation. There were no ghosts or reanimations, no magic or voodoo, and no killers from the past. The fear in this season simply came from one man and his silver tongue.
Not only was Even Peters' portrayal of Kai Anderson the strongest aspect of this season (by a long shot), it is without a doubt his greatest character throughout his entire eight season run, and stands as one of the best American Horror Story characters ever. His intensity, charisma, and the ease with which he was able to build such a following make Kai one of the more evil characters we have ever seen.
Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk took advantage of real world controversies and fears to build one of their strongest seasons ever. In the wake of Donald Trump's rise to the Oval Office, and the fear and uncertainty that grew not only in the States but throughout the world, the premise of Cult could not have been more relevant. This, paired with the realism of the story, created possibly the scariest story American Horror Story has ever told.
