Every Season Of Parks And Recreation Ranked Worst To Best

7. Season One

Like most TV shows, season one is far from their best. Originally, NBC executives were looking for a direct Office spin off from Daniels and Schur, but the producers were concerned about just making a watered-down version of something already on air. Eventually, the idea of Parks and Recreation was born, but the lack of confidence by the network is clear to see throughout the first season.

It was really touch and go for the show, Chris Pratt - who wasn't even a series regular at this point - and Retta have both spoke out about how unsure the future was. Unfair comparisons to The Office hampered any critical sucess and the viewer base dwindled week to week, losing two and a half million views from its pilot to the finale.

The show does its best, but fails to find its rhythm. However, for those who stuck it out, the season finale Rock Show proved that, if it got the chance, the show was here to stay. It's honestly amazing that a second season was commissioned, but thank the TV gods it did.
