24. Dear White People Season 2

Justin Simien turned his own indie darling movie into a critical darling TV show last year, expanding the format of the eponymous film into ten 30-minute episodes, each one offering up satire, social commentary, and focusing on a different character.

The series takes place at a predominantly white school, and charts the injustice faced by black students. Despite some controversy - the trailer and title received a backlash - the show did a great job of handling racial issues in a smart, relevant way, and Season 2 looks set to continue that.
