2. Bucky's Vital List Of Amends

An early flashback that saw Bucky kill an innocent bystander whilst carrying out a Hydra hit came to fruition later on. We see him maintain a familial-like friendship with an old man, taking him out for food and guiding him away from conflict.

If we thought this was purely an indicator of his good will, that was soon dashed away when we saw a framed photo of the man’s late son in his apartment: a photo of the very bystander we earlier saw Bucky slaughter.

This is where we can bring in another important item shown in this episode: Bucky’s list of amends. On advice of his therapist he is working his way through a list of names to right his wrongs, whether that is getting a corrupt person out of a position of power he put them in, or perhaps giving some peace through truth to a mourning old man.

All the names relate to those who he has either seen do wrong, assisted in doing wrong somehow, or otherwise need to make good with. Also note that Zemo's name is listed, so who knows what hell with break loose when he later joins the fray!

It’s also worth noting that his list format and the shots that show it hearken back to Steve’s lists of old, where he kept track of all the pop-culture things he missed. It is a loose tie but it is hard not to draw the parallels when it is such a classic bit of Cap personality and the appearance is now tied to someone who was so close with the late hero.
