Family Guy: 10 Biggest Changes Made To The Show

By Jay Anderson /

8. Peter Changes Jobs

Chalk up another victory for the positive change side! Peter Griffin started life on Family Guy as a hapless employee at a toy factory. And while his boss, Mr. Weed, provided some comedic moments prior to his untimely death, this was never a setting that really made sense for Griffin. It wasn't iconic enough. It had the potential for a few Lucy-eating-chocolates factory gags, but it was always going to be a one-note joke. It certainly wasn't Homer at the nuclear plant. Placing Peter Griffin, lover of beer, in a job at his favourite brewery - that worked. It worked much better than the toy factory, which really had run dry by the time it was destroyed. We really do miss Mr. Weed though. He wasn't even mentioned beyond his third season death with the exception of a reference in "Stewie Kills Lois."
