In contrast to the wooded environments of The Walking Dead, Fear is taking the action to the west coast and planting it firmly in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles. From teases of suburban environments and skate parks to hints of beach-based action, Fear appears set to fully embrace the geographical diversity that makes up its new Southern California setting.
As anyone who lives here can attest to, the idea of seeing walkers roaming Hollywood Boulevard, causing people to leap off the Santa Monica Pier trying to escape or feeding on victims in one of our many graffiti-laden canals is enticing. Films like Zombieland have already touched upon such imagery, but Fear has the opportunity to run with it on a weekly basis, spreading its scope over everything that makes Los Angeles so unique. In many ways, the stark differences in settings between it and the mother show have already helped Fear carve out a distinct, refreshing visual identity all its own.
