After many months of anticipation, a huge DC Comic-Con panel, and one very unfortunate leak, the first episode of The Flash aired on Tuesday night. The second of the new comic-based shows to premiere this fall, the CW series will follow the story of Barry Allen, a young forensic investigator who acquires super speed after being struck by lightning following the meltdown of a particle accelerator in the fictional Central City. It was an exciting hour of television, with performances and premises certainly strong enough to bring viewers back for a second installment. Even more importantly, the pilot was successful both as an hour of television as well as a teaser of what viewers can expect of the series as a whole. So, here are the five biggest reasons why the pilot of The Flash promises great things.
