16. The One With Chandler In A Box (S4E8)
The Episode
In an attempt to prove how sorry he is to Joey, Chandler 'lives' in a box. Monica gets ice in her eye and visits the doctor, who turns out to be Richard's son.
Why It's Great
This is one of the episodes where the title tells you all you really need to know, because that is the crux of this instalment. However, the reasons it's so great are threefold:
1. Chandler in a box. It speaks volumes to the character - and Perry's performance - that he manages to be absurdly funny even while mostly just being a vocal presence.
2. The broken and then unified bond between Chandler and Joey, which is one of the series' strongest friendships.
3. Monica's incredible takedown of all of the others towards the end, which is delivered in supreme, cutting fashion by Courteney Cox.
