A character such as Gunther requires a very specific type of actor. Someone that can handle themselves when being portrayed as the "weirdo" character in ensemble scenes.

A character that could be perfectly portrayed by the one and only, Michael Cera.

Cera would be excellent as the iconic barista, as he has the ability to say a lot without actually saying anything, similar to James Michael Tyler. They both share a lot of qualities, which would make Cera the perfect fit to take over the role from Tyler.

Gunther is a quiet, lonely character that would make an appearance every so often and never became vital to the main plot of the show's ten-year run.

Michael Cera possesses the natural awkwardness to take on the role of Gunther in 2021.
